Autumn has to be, without a doubt, the most photogenic of all the seasons and is definitely by far my most favourite time of year for outdoor family portraits. Starting out in photography, I always had a passion for black and white images, but it was Autumn that made me appreciate and love colour in photography. How can you not love the rich earthy tones that Autumn brings? The splashes of reds and orange, hints of yellow and touches of green, autumnal photography has so much to offer.
At this time of year the sun starts to get lower and with it brings an atmospheric light. Those overcast skies actually provide a beautiful, soft diffused light which is perfect for portrait photography. It is also an ideal time of year for families with younger children, with the sun setting earlier we can capture the beautiful golden hour and still be home in time for bed!
Leaf throwing is an added bonus, providing lots of fun for the little ones, and quite often the adults too!
